Why visit Cuevas del Drach?
The Cuevas del Drach, or Dragon Caves, sit just outside Porto Cristo on Mallorca’s eastern coast. The limestone cave system extends for more than 1,200 metres and has been one of Mallorca’s defining visitor experiences for generations.
The route follows clearly lit walkways through chambers of stalactites and stalagmites, descending to Lake Martel, one of the largest subterranean lakes in the world.
At Lake Martel, visitors sit in a natural underground auditorium and watch a short classical music concert performed from illuminated boats. At the end, visitors can choose to walk out or cross the lake by boat.
The caves maintain a cool underground temperature, making them especially appealing on hot summer afternoons.
